ot many start-ups can say their big client
came less than a year in business. Even
fewer can say their first big client was Microsoft.
But for Manitoba-based company Bold
Commerce, these claims are reality.

Bold was founded in 2012 by Yvan Boisjoli, Eric
Boisjoli, Stefan Maynard, and Jason Myers. A
mix of ecommerce experts and experienced web
developers, the four set off with intentions of
enhancing the ecommerce platform Shopify with
apps that solved realistic merchant problems.

Bold now builds some of the most popular
ecommerce apps on the Shopify platform. The
company helps find opportunities for online
merchants to increase revenue, save time
and increase in profitability through their apps
and other professional ecommerce services.
Bold’s first app, Upsell, was released after only
two months, and now, after only 5 years into
business, the company has over 20 apps on the
Shopify app store.

Boisjoli is current CEO of Bold. Having been
involved from the beginning, he admits that the
company’s rapid expansion caught him and co-
founders off guard.
