It was great to see so many familiar faces—and meet new ones—at The Building Conference on October 20th! BOMA Manitoba was pleased to partner with the Winnipeg Construction Association for a day of practical learning, with plenty of time to catch up and tour the tradeshow floor.

The morning began with “Renovating without Disruption,” a Breakfast Panel led by moderator Darryl Harrison. Panelists Jillian Schofield, Chris Precourt, Evan Mohr, and Gavin Stewart discussed the challenges of getting renovation work done while keeping occupied buildings up and running.

BOMA’s education sessions took a closer look at issues facing property managers. WSP’s Timothy Reeve, Darren Keam and David Wytrykush explored “Hidden Costs when Capital Planning,” in the AM sessions, while Roger Miranda of Evident IT presented “Cybersecurity Risks in Smart Buildings” in the PM time slot. At the Keynote Luncheon, attendees heard from Desiree Scott in “Beyond the Pitch: Leadership, Legacy and Inspiring the Next Generation.”

Between sessions, attendees explored the tradeshow and connected with exhibitors. Congratulations to Bison Janitorial, who took home this year’s Best Booth award!
