Recap: November Industry Breakfast

Members met on November 13th for our Industry Breakfast featuring representatives from WSP.Tim Reeve, Joseph Der, and Johnathon Pomerleau, presented on practical pathways to decarbonizing Manitoba buildings.

The team highlighted useful tools, building studies, and support available through BOMA Enspire, the shared case studies showing both successes and common pitfalls. Attendees left with clear, actionable guidance to begin their own decarbonization efforts.

Recap: State of the Industry Luncheon

Thank you to everyone who filled the York Ballroom on November 19th for our annual State of the Industry Luncheon. Moderator Joanne Gesell guided a candid look at Winnipeg’s commercial real estate scene with panelists Trevor Clay, Paul Kornelsen, Kris Mutcher, and Don White.

The group shared quick updates across all major sectors, some positive retail highlights, and the tough realities of construction costs. They also touched on office trends, the growing focus on amenities, the rise of AI, and the role of government in encouraging CRE activity.

Missing BOMA Emails and Event Invites

Some members have reported not receiving BOMA emails and event invites. This may be because Outlook’s ‘Focused Inbox’ feature automatically sorts messages into ‘Focused’ and ‘Other’ tabs. Emails in the ‘Other’ folder can be missed if only the main inbox is checked.

How to fix this:

  1. Open Outlook and click on the ‘Other’ tab.
  2. Check for any BOMA emails or event invites there.
  3. To ensure future emails go to your main inbox:
    • Right-click the message and select ‘Move to Focused’ or ‘Always move to Focused’.

If you still don’t see an email, you can also check our website for event information and updates.
