BOMA Member since 2021
I treasure the connections I have made, having gained invaluable support from fellow members. Being part of BOMA has provided me with opportunities for growth and development that have tremendously impacted my career.
WHAT’S YOUR CURRENT JOB TITLE?
I am a Business Development Manager at Pinnacle, Manitoba’s largest local staffing and recruitment firm.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED IN THE INDUSTRY?
I’ve been in business development for 14 years and have experience across a variety of exciting industries. Although new to the team at Pinnacle, our professional relationship goes back many years! They placed me early in my career, giving me firsthand experience in their unique process of candidate placement. When asked to join the team here, I jumped at the opportunity, having known for a long time what sets Pinnacle apart — both from the perspective of a candidate and hiring manager. Our company’s co-founders, Wade Miller and Dale Driedger, have earned a stellar reputation for assembling teams of high achievers, and I’m honoured to be part of that tradition.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
My primary responsibility is to cultivate and maintain relationships with business leaders, owners, hiring managers and HR professionals to deeply understand what’s important to them and their business on the recruitment side. Together with my team of tenured and specialized recruiters, we help businesses locate and hire top talent, manage fluctuating staffing requirements, and form high-performance teams that drive success. I love what I do!
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS YOU SEE IN BECOMING A MEMBER?
BOMA is highly regarded in the industry with a calibre of members and professionals you want to connect with — people that truly inspire and help you grow professionally. I don’t believe I have ever left a luncheon without forming a new connection. Beyond that, the exposure to a wide range of topics and emerging industry trends are endlessly fascinating.
WHAT ROLES HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH IN BOMA?
I have been on the special events committee for the last three years and have to say my favourite event would be the holiday luncheon. Not only does the entertainment never disappoint, but I love chatting and networking beforehand. I’ve also presented as a subject matter expert at an Industry Breakfast that resulted in new business relationships. BOMA provides unique opportunities to get in front of industry leaders and decision-makers, facilitating valuable connections and collaborations.
DO YOU THINK BECOMING A MEMBER HAS HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER?
Definitely! I treasure the connections I have made, having gained invaluable support from fellow members. Being part of BOMA has provided me with opportunities for growth and development that have tremendously impacted my career.
WHY DID YOU BECOME A MEMBER?
I encountered the opportunity at a previous job and was immediately intrigued by the connections I formed so quickly. My desire to get more involved continued to grow, and I took every chance to promote the business and our offerings.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW BOMA MEMBERS WHO AREN’T AS ACTIVE?
You get what you put in. We all have opportunities to engage with others every day. At BOMA events, it never feels like work. People are interested in what you do and why you are there. Whether it’s a casual chat at a golf tournament or a formal industry event, every encounter at BOMA enriches your knowledge, expands your perspectives, and strengthens your professional network. I look forward to meeting and getting to know more members.
WHAT’S A VALUABLE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE YOUR PAST SELF?
Every room you walk into—and every conversation you engage in—has an opportunity to teach you something. Approach each interaction with curiosity and an open mind. Listen actively, not just to respond, but to understand.
